Feedback from International Federations (IFs) on the Paris bid for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games has given "further proof that athletes and France’s national sports movement are driving the bid forward", Tony Estanguet has claimed.

The Paris 2024 co-chairman, a three-time Olympic champion in canoe slalom, believes discussions with the IFs have been an "extremely valuable addition to the campaign process".

Meetings with IFs have taken place in Paris since October and follow similar discussions held at the SportAccord Convention in Lausanne in April and the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in August.

The visits were led by Paris 2024 bid leaders including Estanguet and fellow co-chairman Bernard Lapasset, as well as chief executive Etienne Thobois and sports director Jean-Phillipe Gatien.

They included elements of all Games-planning related issues, such as the Olympic and Paralympic Village plan, accommodation for athletes and IF officials, competition schedules and transportation.

As well as discussions, the visiting IF representatives were given a chance to see the iconic Eiffel Tower, where Paris 2024 claim you can see 80 per cent of their proposed competition venues.

The Bid Committee say positive feedback from the meetings "focused on Paris 2024’s compact, city-centre Games plan".

Paris and France’s expertise in hosting major sports events was also highlighted, they claim.

"The IF consultation programme has been an extremely valuable addition to the campaign process and I would like to thank every single IF for taking the time to discuss our plans in detail, provide excellent feedback and, in many cases, visit us here in Paris," Estanguet said.

"I would also like to thank the French athletes and National Federation representatives who provided excellent support during the visits.

"Insights from Sarah Ourahmoune, boxing, Brice Guyart, fencing, Sebastien Flute, archery, or Gwladys Epangue, taekwondo, have been very positive and enriching.

"This is further proof that athletes and France’s national sports movement are driving the bid forward.

"The city centre will be alive with fans travelling from venue to venue served by a first-class public transport system and Paris’ famous bars and cafes will overflow with locals and visitors creating a unique Olympic and Paralympic atmosphere in the centre of the city.

"This is our vision for a Games of passion and purpose in the very heart of a global city that delivers for IFs, athletes and the people of Paris and France."

Los Angeles and Budapest are also bidding for the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics.

The International Olympic Committee will elect its chosen host city at its Session in Lima on September 13.
