Olympic champion Kjetil Jansrud led a Norwegian one-two at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Alpine Skiing World Cup in Italian resort Val Gardena today, finishing the men’s super-G narrowly ahead of Aleksander Aamodt Kilde.

Jansrud, winner of the season-opening downhill and super-G events in French resort Val d’Isère earlier this month, clocked a time of 1 min 31.93sec that was 0.06 seconds quicker than his compatriot.

Rounding out the podium was Canada’s Erik Guay, who finished 0.13 seconds back to edge out Olympic downhill champion Matthias Mayer of Austria into fourth.

Mayer was returning to the scene of a horrific crash a year ago which brought an end to his season.

Jansrud’s 17th career World Cup victory moves him upto second in the overall standings on 300 points.

The Sochi 2014 Olympic gold medallist is 140 points behind Austria’s five-time defending champion Marcel Hirscher, who does not race downhill.

Competition in Val Gardena is due to conclude tomorrow with a downhill race.

The women’s Alpine combined race in Val d'Isere saw Slovenia’s Ilka Stuhec collect her third FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup victory in the space of two weeks after holding on in the slalom for her first-ever Alpine combined podium finish and triumph.

Despite finding herself third after the morning’s downhill run, 0.74 seconds back, Stuhec recovered to triumph with a time of 2:40.33.

Switzerland’s Michelle Gisin was 0.12 seconds behind in the runners-up spot, while Italy’s Sofia Goggia was 0.16 seconds off the pace in third.

American Laurenne Ross led the downhill leg by 0.32 seconds over Austria’s Cornelia Huetter, but she ended up in 10th.

"It feels great like every win," said Stuhec, whose two other wins this season were in downhill, both in Lake Louise in Canada.

"Well, all three of them.

"I felt confident in the start of the slalom, but still I know I could push a bit more, but maybe one part of me just wanted to get to the finish as well."

Gsin’s second-place finish ensured a first World Cup podium of her career, while Goggia has now finished on the podium in four separate disciplines this season.

Defending overall World Cup champion Lara Gut of Switzerland was sixth after the downhill and went off course in the slalom.

Gut, the winner of last year's Alpine combined in Val d'Isere, is third in the World Cup standings with 393 points.

The United States’ Mikaela Shiffrin, who is skipping the speed events in Val d'Isere, is first with 498 points and followed by Goggia with 407.

A downhill race is scheduled to take place in Val d'Isere tomorrow.
