The calendar of events for next year has been revealed by the World Karate Federation (WKF).

Five Karate 1- Premier League events have been scheduled along with the World Junior & Cadet and Under-21 Championships.

The anticipated debut of the Karate 1 - Series A competitions have also been pencilled in while Karate's involvement at the World Games is set for the summer.

Next year’s WKF calendar will begin with one of the flagship tournaments of international Karate, the Karate 1- Premier League in the French capital of Paris from January 27 to 29.

The tournament then heads to Rotterdam in The Netherlands from March 17 to 19, Dubai from March 31 to April 2 and Rabat in Morocco from April 14 to 16.

A competition held in both Halle and Leipzig in Germany will hold the final event of the first-class league competition from September 8 to 10.

European karate's rising stars will then convene in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia between February 17 to 19 at the European Karate Federation (EKF) Junior, Cadet & Under-21 Championships.

May is one of the busiest months of the year with no less than four events scheduled.

The 52nd EKF Senior Championships are pencilled in from May 4 to 7 in Samsun in Turkey which is followed by the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku in Azerbaijan from May 13 to 14.

The 16th senior African Karate Federation (UFAK) Championships then take centre stage in the Cameroonian capital of Yaoundé from May 19 to 21 while the Pan american Karate Federation (PKF) Senior Championships complete the hectic month in Curaçao in the Caribbean from May 25 to 27.

The 2017 senior continental tournaments will then be completed between June 16 to 18 with the 14th Asian Karate Federation (AKF) Senior Championships to be held in Astana in Kazakhstan.

In June, Karate will also showcase its impressive impact on societies and young people with two events.

The WKF Karate Day in Munich is planned on June 17, while the 10th edition of the WKF Training Camp & Karate 1 Youth World Cup well be held in Umag in Croatia between June 26 to July 2. 

A new competition will be unveiled in June, as the Karate 1 – Series A will be inaugurated in the Spanish city of Toledo from June 17 to 19.

Istanbul will also play host to a leg of the new event from September 23 to 24 along with Salzburg, from October 7 to 8 and Okinawa from November 11 to 12. 

Karate will also form part of the World Games to be held in Wroclaw in Poland from July 25 to 26. 

After the PKF Junior & Cadet Championships in Buenos Aires from August 24 to 26 and the Commonwealth Karate Championships in Durban from August 3 to September 3, one of the signature events of the year will take place in Tenerife from October 26 to 29.

The world’s best upcoming Karatekas will meet in the World Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships in Tenerife, Spain, from October 26 to 29.
