Slovenia’s Domen Prevc continued his superb start to the International Ski Federation (FIS) Ski Jumping World Cup season as he secured his second victory of the campaign by a slender margin in Klingenthal.

The 17-year-old jumped 140 and 141 metres to earn a total of 286.9 points, only 0.2 more than silver medallist Daniel Andre Tande of Norway.

The Norwegian managed to record the furthest leap of the competition with his second attempt of 143m, which came after he had jumped 136.5m, as he ended with an overall 286.7 points.

Stefan Kraft of Austria finished in third place as he produced efforts of 138m and 140m, producing a score of 284.8 points.

But the day belonged to Prevc once again as he continues to justify his status as one of the rising stars in the sport.

Having earned his maiden Ski Jumping World Cup success in Ruka in Finland last month, Prevc is now the overall leader on 220 points.

Severin Freund of Germany, winner of an Olympic gold medal in the team competition at Sochi 2014 and who finished second overall in the World Cup last year, is his closest challenger on 204 points.

It proved to be a disappointing outing for the 28-year-old German on home snow as he languished down in 11th, 29.2 points behind the victorious Slovenian.

Tande’s performance in Klingenthal saw him move up to third on the leaderboard as he currently has 178 points.

"My wins are the result of hard work, they don't just happen," Prevc, who is outperforming brother Peter, the defending World Cup champion so far this season, said.

"But after my second jump today I didn't expect that it would be enough for the win or even the podium.

"I hope that I can show many more long jumps this winter that I'm satisfied with, that's why I started ski jumping."

Lillehammer, which hosted the 1994 Winter Olympics, is due to stage the next men’s Ski Jumping World Cup event from December 9 to 11.
