The fourth International Swimming Association (FINA) World Aquatics Convention will take place in Canadian city Windsor from tomorrow with representatives from all disciplines set to feature.

According to FINA, the aim of the three-day event is to provide a platform for the global aquatics family and business leaders to come together and share best practice.

Another goal is to encourage engagement in all of the FINA sports - swimming, open water swimming, diving, high diving, synchronised swimming and water polo.

The overall vision of the event is to "support the growth of Aquatic sports worldwide".

To this end, topics up for discussion will include the potential introduction of new technologies and ideas in order to achieve high performance at both elite and grassroots level.

Educational programmes and schemes to promote aquatics among regional and local Governments will also be on the agenda, as well as maintaining relationships between FINA and national governing bodies.

FINA President Julio Maglione will be among the speakers at the event, which will include clinics on coaching and sports medicine.

The Convention will last until December 5 and is taking place prior to the World Short Course Swimming Championships in the Ontarian city.

Up to 1,000 of the world’s best swimmers from more than 176 countries will compete for glory in the 13th edition of the Championships, in a 25 metre pool.
