Hosts Cameroon secured their place in the final of the Africa Women Cup of Nations after beating Ghana 1-0 at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaounde.

Raissa Feudijo’s 71st minute strike proved to be decisive, stabbing home from close range after Njoya Ajara's effort had been cleared off the line.

The three-time losing finalists will now go on to face nine-time winners Nigeria, who beat South Africa 1-0 in the other semi-final at the Limbe Stadium.

Cameroon started brightly and nearly went in front on 25 minutes as Aboudi Gabrielle Ongeune’s cross from the left inadvertently turned into an attempt on goal that hit the post.

The home nation's superiority continued into the second half and they thought they had scored 10 minutes after the restart when Michelle Akaba fired the ball into the net from Ysis Sonkeng’s delivery, only for Zambian referee Gladys Lengwe to blow for a foul on the goalkeeper.

The deadlock was finally broken 16 minutes later as Gaelle Eganamouit's weak shot rebounded to Ajara, whose effort was cleared off the line before Feudijo scored.

In the final minute, Michelle Ngono Mani's fierce shot from the edge of the area was tipped on to the bar and over by Ghana's substitute keeper Patricia Mantey, a replacement for Ama Nana Asantewa who had been stretchered off with a head injury.

Ghana mounted a late challenge to get back into the game but their efforts were not enough to save them from a semi-final exit.

The day's second last-four encounter was also settled by a single goal as first-time starter Desire Oparanozie's 53rd minute strike was enough to earn Nigeria victory over South Africa.

Alaba Jonathan was called into action on numerous occasions in the Nigeria goal, however, South Africa were unable to force their way back into the match.

Nigeria will be looking to claim a 10th title in 12 editions of the competition when they go up against Cameroon in the final on Saturday (December 3).
