The official logo for the 2019 International Luge Federation (FIL) World Championships in Winterberg in Germany has been revealed.

The emblem features a turquoise luger on a dark blue track, with the black, yellow and red of the German flag also featuring.

Winterberg was chosen as host at the FIL Congress in 2018 Winter Olympic host Pyeongchang in June 2015.

The German bid defeated rival Sochi, the Russian 2014 Winter Olympic host, by 23 votes to 15.

American candidate Lake Placid was eliminated in the first round.

The FIL have now confirmed the dates of the competition, with action set to take place between January 25 and 27.

"We would like to thank the International Luge Federation for confirming our preferred dates so early," said Rainer Nittel, managing director of the Erholungs-und Sportzentrum Winterberg GmbH, which will co-host the Championships alongside the BRC Hallenberg bobsleigh and luge club.

"We can now ensure that all our plans and preparations are completed on time."

Winterberg has twice hosted the World Championships before, in 1989 and 1991.

The 2019 edition will be the 48th time the premier event has been held.

The German track also held the opening leg of this season's FIL World Cup this weekend.
