The International Swimming Federation (FINA) has launched its first ever mobile app to coincide with the FINA World Short Course Swimming Championships in Windsor in Canada.
The governing body "sought to create an engaging, fan-centric experience that would ignite interest in the sport, drive engagement and bring fans closer to the athletes than ever before".
Included as part of the app is a comprehensive results section featuring both live and historical data, stretching back to 2000.
Within the results section, users can also search by events and explore detailed results including split times and records.
Additionally, the app also features an "event hub", with details and schedules for upcoming and current competitions.
There is also a complete section dedicated to more than 15,000 athlete profiles, including biographical information, nationality, race by race results, images and links to social media feeds.
A dedicated media section includes the latest press releases, news articles, video and photo highlights, and social streams.
Action in Windsor will be held next month, between December 6 and 11.
"We are very proud today to be able to launch our first ever mobile application - a project FINA has been keen to develop in order to enhance even further the exposure of its top events," said FINA President Julio Maglione.
"We truly believe that the app will provide a range of crucial information to our various audiences, in a fast, comprehensive and efficient way."
Competition in Windsor will take place in a short course 25 metre pool and will feature more than 900 athletes, representing around 170 National Federations.
A second release of the app is planned for March 2017 with diving data and results being the focus.
The complete version of the app will then be made available prior to the 2017 FINA World Championships in the Hungarian capital of Budapest in July.
This will include all of FINA’s six aquatic disciplines - swimming, diving, synchronised swimming, water polo, open water swimming and high diving.
