Para Sport Sweden have announced an extension to their partnerships with the hotel chain Scandic and travel agency Grand Travel Group.

The organisation, which comprises of the Swedish Paralympic Committee (SPC), the Swedish Para Sports Federation and Special Olympics Sweden, have expressed their delight at strengthening their relationship with two of their main partners.

Scandic have signed a four-year extension with Para Sport Sweden, which will include hosting the new Swedish Para Sports Awards.

The awards are due to be held for the first time in February.

"We have been working together with Para Sport Sweden for nearly ten years to make Para-sport visible," said Mathias Kemi, Scandic's sponsor and partnership manager.

"The great achievements made by the athletes in Para-sport deserve more recognition and attention."

The partnership with Grand Travel Group has been extended for two years, with Para Sport Sweden secretary general Johan Strid claiming the agreement was vital for the organisation.

"It is very important,” said Strid.

"Grand Travel Group efforts make a big difference for us because every year is intense, we travel very much and need tailored solutions.

"Therefore, we consider this cooperation agreement extremely valuable."

The agreements will provide a boost for Swedish Para-sport, following Rio 2016.

A total of 57 athletes represented the country at the Paralympic Games, with the European nation securing one gold, four silver and five bronze medals.
