The Dutchman and his American wife were married in May last year and were victorious in the men's mass start and women's 1,500 metres for their respective countries.

Olympic 10,000m champion Jorrit was a convincing winner in the Japanese city, clocking 7min 37.72sec in his winning effort. 

He powered away and caught most of the pack after one lap, leaving the path to victory clear.

American KC Boutiette was someway back in silver medal position in a time of 7:41.68, but he still made history by becoming the oldest-ever World Cup podium finisher at 46.

Belgium's Bart Swings, also a roller skating specialist, finished in 7:41.72 for bronze.

Heather's victory came after she had to settle for a disappointing tenth place finish over 500m.

Her winning time of 1:55.29 was a track record in the 1998 Winter Olympic host city, with quadruple Olympic gold medallist Ireen Wüst earning silver for The Netherlands in 1:55.50.

It was a second win of the weekend for the American who collected the 1,000m title yesterday. 

Another Dutch skater, Marrit Leenstra, took bronze in 1:55.94.

In the women's 500m, it was Nao Kodaira of Japan who backed up her opening two victories over the sprint distance in Chinese city Harbin last weekend.

The Vancouver 2010 team pursuit silver medallist made it a hat-trick in 37.75sec ahead of South Korea's Sang-Hwa Lee, who finished in 37.93sec and China's Jing Yu who recorded 37.97sec.

Kodaira went in the final pairing as she maintained her 100 per cent record. 

American Joey Mantia won the men's 1,500m title, becoming the first skater in Nagano to win a race after not being successful in Harbin.

He was timed at 1:45.43 to upset Dutchman Kjeld Nuis, yesterday's 1,000m winner, who had to settle for silver in 1:45.63.

Bronze was won by another US skater, Shani Davis in 1:46.43. 

In the men's 500m, there was a surprise victory for Germany's Nico Ihle who set the winning time of 34.82sec in the first pairing.

Dutchman Jan Smeekens was second best in 34.89sec ahead of South Korean bronze medallist Min-Kyu Cha who finished in 34.96sec.

There have now been three different 500m winners this season, with Kazakhstan's Roman Krech and Russian Pavel Kulizhnikov sharing the honours in Harbin.

In the women's mass start there was South Korean gold as Bo Reum-Kim made a decisive break with ten skaters still in contention at the final bell.

Her time was 8:15.02, which proved enough to beat Canadian Ivanie Blondin into second on 8:15.29 and Italian Francesca Lollobrigida into bronze on 8:15.42.

The third leg of the World Cup season will now be held in Kazakhstan's capital Astana, between December 2 and 4.
