Olympic medallists were among those to attend a Colombian Olympic Committee (COC) event which looked ahead to the Tokyo 2020 Games.

The governing body convened in capital city Bogota to discuss preparations for the Olympics in the Japanese capital in four years  time.

Athletes in attendance gave their feedback and presented their ideas, with another Olympic cycle getting underway following the Rio 2016 Games in August.

Gold medal winning weightlifter Oscar Figueroa, who won the under-62 kilogram title in Rio to add to the silver he won at London 2012, was one of the athletes to take part.

He was joined by judoka Yuri Alvear Orejuela, who upgraded his London 2012 bronze to silver in Rio in the under 70kg division.

Wrestler Jackeline Renteria, who won bronze at both Beijing 2008 and London 2012 in the under 55kg freestyle class, was another to take part along side a number of Paralympic medlalists.

Baltazar Medina, President of the COC, led proceedings alongside representatives of Coldeportes, the Government's department for sport in the South American country.

Colombia achieved their best-ever Olympic performance at Rio 2016 and will be hoping to improve again in Tokyo.

The country won three golds in all in a total haul of eight, with women's triple jump champion Caterine Ibargüen and women's BMX winner Mariana Pajón adding to Figueroa's success.

Colombia's best performance prior to Rio 2016 was at London 2012 where they also won eight medals - but only one was a gold.
