The European Taekwondo Union (ETU) has successfully held its debut coaching seminar at the Carlforsska Gymnasiet in the city of Västerås in Sweden.

A substantial number of ETU coaches from Sweden were in attendance, as well as from neighbouring Scandinavian countries and the rest of Europe.

The seminar was conducted by the ETU's Referee Committee chairman, Chakir Chelbat.

During the seminar, the coaches were updated on the latest information regarding their sport, and they received feedback regarding taekwondo equipment.

They also analysed "controversial" competition case studies as a means of endorsing the ethics of the sport.

"The attendance of ETU Coach Seminars is cardinally significant," an ETU statement said.

"As any responsible coach, ETU coaches ought to keep up with the latest modifications of the sport and all World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) rule and regulation adjustments, in order to preserve the high quality sporting standards."

All of the coaches who successfully completed the training received a certificate of commendation.

The ETU's seminar follows the WTF also holding their inaugural five-day coaching seminar in the South Korean capital of Seoul.

Attended by 30 coaches from some of the world’s most successful taekwondo nations, the seminar was aimed at helping to share "international best practice" in taekwondo coaching.

It also allowed the attendees to provide feedback on WTF policy and the direction of the sport.

During proceedings in Seoul, WTF President Chungwon Choue held a question and answer session.
