Defending champions England have named their squad for the World Squash Federation (WSF) Women’s World Team Squash Championships, which are scheduled to begin later this month in Paris.

World number two Laura Massaro will captain the side, which also includes three other players ranked in the top 20 - Alison Waters, Sarah-Jane Perry and Victoria Lust.

Waters won mixed doubles silver and women’s doubles bronze at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, alongside Peter Barker and Emma Beddoes respectively.

Perry and Lust, meanwhile, each have eight Professional Squash Association (PSA) Tour titles to their names.

"I'm really looking forward to competing in France with the team," said Massaro, the 2014 world champion.

"We compete as individuals most of the time so it's great coming together as a team and supporting each other.

"Going in as defending champions means the pressure’s on us, but we are ready for the challenge."

England will be striving to retain the title they won in 2014 when the event was last held in Niagara-on-the-Lake in Canada.

Massaro, Waters and Perry were all part of the winning team, which also featured Beddoes.

Eight years earlier, Waters helped England to success as they triumphed in the Canadian city of Edmonton.

"We have selected a team we believe are strong contenders and have every chance of successfully defending our title," said David Campion, national senior coach at England Squash.

"Laura and Alison have vast experience in world team events, and both are in excellent form leading into these Championships.

"Sarah-Jane has recent back-to-back victories against two top-five players, and Victoria Lust deservedly earns her selection having been a consistent performer on the World Tour throughout 2016."

The event, due to take place in France’s capital from November 28 to December 3, will see 19 nations compete for the coveted title, including Australia, Egypt and Malaysia.

It will be held at the historic Jeu De Paume and St Cloud squash clubs, with the final stages being played out on an all-glass court at the Palais Des Sports Robert Charpentier.

The 2015 Men’s World Team Squash Championships, due to take place last December in the Egyptian capital Cairo, were cancelled.

It followed an attack early in the month of the Championships when petrol bombs were thrown into a nightclub, killing 16 people.

Egyptian Squash Federation President Assem Khalifa claimed, however, the decision was more linked to the withdrawal of several countries from the tournament, including holders England.
