Ice Hockey UK have announced McDonald’s franchisee Jerry Nicholls has extended his sponsorship with Great Britain.

The agreement with McDonald’s, through Nicholls and his restaurants in Nottingham, will continue to cover the sponsorship of Ice Hockey UK’s media output.

This includes their television, radio and online output, while the media team have been provided with McDonalds branded clothing.

Their clothing is supplied by Bauer, one of the leading manufacturers of ice hockey equipment.

Following the latest agreement with Nicholls, the McDonalds logo will also feature on the British men’s team’s shirts for their double header with Norway this week.

Their first meeting is due to take place in the National Ice Centre in Nottingham tonight before a fixture tomorrow at the Ice Arena Wales in Cardiff.

Both matches will provide a stern test for the British team, with Norway having recently qualified for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang.

"We are so grateful to Jerry for supporting IHUK and GB," said Andy French, the IHUK general secretary.

"It is brilliant to get his support for the Great Britain national programme.

"In addition, their specific sponsorship of our media output means we can continue to cover major tournaments with a full media team.

"It is great to have Jerry on-board against and we look forward to working closely with him once more."

Britain’s women’s team have departed to Astana for the second preliminary round of qualifying for Pyeongchang 2018, where they will hope to overcome hosts Kazakhstan, Poland and Mexico to reach the third and final qualifying tournament.

The tournament is due to start on Thursday (November 3).

Following the extension of his sponsorship, Nicholls expressed his delight at being able to continue supporting the national team.

"It’s no secret that I’m a huge Nottingham Panthers fan and a long-time sponsor of them and Ice Hockey UK’s media team," he said.

"I’m immensely proud to now be able to extend that support to my national team."
