Egypt’s Ramy Ashour booked his place in the third round of the Professional Squash Association (PSA) Men’s World Championship by easing past South Africa’s Stephen Coppinger at the Wadi Degla Club in Cairo.

The fifth seed dominated throughout the duration of the match, which he began by winning the first nine points on offer.

After winning the opening game 11-3, Ashour maintain control of the encounter and went on to win the remaining games 11-6, 11-8.

"I was more relaxed [in the first round], but I felt good and I think that’s natural as the tournament goes on," said Ashour.

"The better you do, the more pressure you start feeling and I just wanted to back up what I did in the last round, so that was in my mind.

"I just tried to battle it out."

The triumph keeps the Egyptian on track for a fourth victory at the tournament, with England’s Daryl Selby next up.
