France's European champion Camille Serme has stormed to the top of the Professional Squash Association (PSA) Road to Dubai Standings following her victory at the US Open.

Serme, who became the first Frenchwoman to lift the US trophy after beating world number one Nour El Sherbini in the final, now sits at the joint top of the leaderboard alongside Egyptian world number four Nouran Gohar.

She received the maximum 100 points on offer at the event in Philadelphia to move within touching distance of a place at the PSA Dubai World Series Finals next June.

"I made it to Dubai last year and it was an amazing experience and one that I’d really like to have again,” said 27-year-old Serme.

"It’s certainly an aim for me this season to qualify once again because I think it will be a fantastic tournament.

"I wasn’t really thinking about it before the US Open but I now have a very good chance of qualifying, so I'm very excited to hopefully keep playing well."

Nineteen-year-old Gohar also lies on 125 points after winning August's Hong Kong Open.

The duo each hold a narrow 20 point advantage over Egypt's El Sherbini and United States' Amanda Sobhy at the top of the standings.

Malaysia's Nicol David, Egypt's Raneem El Welily and England's Laura Massaro occupy the next three places.

Only the top eight qualify for the season-ending World Series event taking place inside the Dubai Opera House from June 5 to 9 next year.

US Open winner and world number one Mohamed Elshorbagy leads the corresponding men's standings for Egypt.

He sits on 115 points above compatriots Karim Abdel Gawad, on 105, and Ramy Ashour who has 100.

English duo Nick Matthew and James Willstrop lie joint fourth on 65 points.

The journey towards the PSA Dubai World Series Finals continues on November 13 when the 2016 Qatar Classic gets underway in Doha.
