Russia’s Aleksander Komarov successfully defended his men’s 76 kilogram title at the United World Wrestling (UWW) Cadet World Championships in Tbilisi today.

Komarov secured three straight victories to advance to a gold medal match against Azerbaijan’s Nasir Hasanov.

The Russian wrestler was able to prevail at the end of a tight contest, winning 3-0 on the final scorecard to clinch the gold.

Turkey’s Ali Halil Hunc secured the first bronze by defeating Iran’s Hossein Jahanbakhsh Forouzandeh 2-1, while Kazakhstan’s Stanislav Rylskiy achieved a victory by fall over Belarus’ Maksim Bandarenko.

Fail Iskandarov secured gold for Azerbaijan in the 46kg event, achieving a victory by fall over Uzbekistan’s Elbek Ergashev.

Mexico’s Nestor Delgado Ramirez secured landmark bronze, with his 8-0 victory over Iran’s Mohammad Mehrabi giving his country their first medal at the Cadet World Championships since 1980.

The podium was completed by Russia’s Vladimir Zabeyvorota, as he defeated Turkey’s Kadir Kamal 4-1.

Gold medals continued to be shared around by countries on the second day of Greco-Roman events, with Kyrgyzstan and Hungary celebrating victory in the 69kg and 85kg divisions.

Akzhol Makhmudov delivered the Kyrgyzstan gold, winning his final against Azerbaijan’s Ulvi Ganizade by a 5-3 scoreline.

Armenia’s Malkhas Amoyan won bronze through a technical fall win over Belarus’ Artem Valaskovich, while Turkey’s Yasin Turan overcame Iran’s Mohammad Reza Rostami by a 7-1 score.

Alex Szoke triumphed for Hungary in the 85kg division, winning 2-1 against Austria’s Markus Ragginger.

Belarus’ Igor Yarashevich won by the same score against Iran’s Hasan Jahanbakhsh Forouzandeh to claim a bronze, with Hakob Baghdasaryan securing the final podium spot by edging Azerbaijan’s Tehran Aminzade 3-1.

The final Greco-Roman gold was won by Iran’s Omid Hossein Arami, as he secured a 2-1 win over Ukraine’s Vladyslav Kuzko in the 42kg competition.

Uzbekistan’s Ikhtiyor Botirov beat Turkey’s Adem Uzun 3-1 in the first bronze medal bout, while Azerbaijan’s Zaur Aliyev claimed an 8-6 victory over Armenia’s Hayk Asatryan in the second contest.

With Yousef Hosseinvand’s gold yesterday and Hossein Arami’s triumph today, Iran finished top of the Greco-Roman team standings with two golds and two silver medals.

Wrestling competition will continue tomorrow in the Tbilisi Sports Palace, with women’s freestyle events due to get underway.
