Japan comfortably beat Chinese Taipei 10-0 today to jump to the top of the Super Round standings at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Women's Baseball World Cup in Gijang, South Korea.

The Japanese, who beat Venezuela on Wednesday, further enhanced their chances of making it to the final with another impressive win.

Chinese Taipei, who thrashed hosts South Korea yesterday 11-1, were unable to reproduce any kind of similar form from that contest as their chances of progression took a setback.

Japan looked comfortable throughout and were rarely troubled as they eased into a seven run lead after the opening three innings.

They would go on to score three more late on to impose further misery on their Asian rivals.

Elsewhere in the Super Round matches, home favourites South Korea endured another humiliating defeat, this time to Australia.

The hosts were 7-0 down after three innings before another six in the last took the score to 13-0.

There was yet another convincing win in the third Super Round match of the day as Canada defeated Venezuela 8-1.

A tense opening innings resulted in zero runs for either side, before Canada snatched a 2-1 lead after the second.

Two further runs in the third extended the Canadians' lead before four in the final two innings were unanswered by the South Americans, handing Canada the win.

There were also three matches in the Consolation Round today which included three more comfortable wins for the USA, Hong Kong and Cuba.

The US, who thrashed Pakistan 34-0 yesterday, followed that up with another convincing win, this time against The Netherlands.

The Americans scored all of their runs in the first three innings, with five in the first, three more in the second and two in the third to win 10-0.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong saw off Pakistan 12-1 in a thoroughly impressive performance.

They led the whole way through the contest and only failed to score a run in one of their five innings.

Cuba also dominated their opponents as their match with India saw them comfortable 12-1 winners.

Despite a slow start, in which no runs were scored in either team's first innings, the Cubans then scored 11 of their 12 runs in the second.

India failed to sufficiently respond leaving them joint bottom of the Consolation Round table.
