Hosts South Korea will take on Chinese Taipei in the first super round match of the Women's Baseball World Cup tomorrow after the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) released the official schedule.

The super round will see each of the six countries which advanced from the opening round compete in four further matches, spread across four days at the Hyundai-Gijang Dream Ballpark.

They will not play against the teams who they played in the initial phase of the competition, with two nations having advanced from each of the three pools.

Wins and defeats against teams who were eliminated in the opening round have not been carried into this stage of the competition, but results against fellow super round teams will stand.

It leaves group winners Chinese Taipei, Japan and Venezuela all beginning this phase with a victory to their credit, with Australia, Canada and South Korea still having a defeat on their records.

Following South Korea’s clash against Chinese Taipei, world number one ranked Japan will face Venezuela in a meeting of the two undefeated nations.

Japan will be hoping to preserve their winning streak, as they seek to win the World Cup for the fifth consecutive time.

Australia will then take on Canada in the third match of the day, a repeat of the bronze medal match from two years ago, when the Australian team prevailed 3-2.

The consolation round will see the remaining teams battle it out for seventh to 12th places in the final standings.

Pakistan will continue their search for a maiden win at the tournament, having made their debut this year.

The United States, who have reached the final at each of the editions of the event to date, will hope to make up for their premature exit from the main competition.

Cuba, India, Hong Kong and The Netherlands will also contest the consolation round.
