Hosts South Korea continued their unbeaten start to the Women's Baseball World Cup with a hard fought 4-3 victory over Cuba at Gigang City's Dream Park.

The home team, seeking their first ever medal in the World Baseball Softball Confederation organised event, trailed 3-1 in the sixth inning.

They tied the game 3-3 before squeezing clear to win by a single run and secure their progression from Group A.

Venezuela will join them in the Super Round after continuing their unbeaten record with an 18-1 win over Pakistan.

Four-time defending champions Japan progressed from Group B with a 12-0 thrashing of The Netherlands.

Two-time former winners United States remain on course to continue their record of making the final in all seven editions of the biennial event.

They battled to a 2-1 victory over Taiwan in the closest encounter of the day.

Canada overcame India 18-4 in one of the day's other ties and Australia swept past Hong Kong 13-0.

A final set of group games are due take place tomorrow before the Super Round starts on Wednesday (September 7).

The sides who finish in the top two in the super round will then progress to the final, with the third and fourth placed countries battling for the bronze medal.
