Egypt's Mohamed Elshorbagy has hung on to top spot in the Professional Squash Association (PSA) men's world rankings despite a surprise second round exit at the Hong Kong Open last month.

Elshorbagy, twice a World Championship finalist, was beaten in the first PSA World Series event of the season by Australian Cameron Pilley but still hasn't been overhauled at the summit.

France's world champion Gregory Gaultier also keeps his place at number two in the rankings, which have been updated again today.

That is despite him also exiting in Hong Kong at the second stage, to Fares Dessouky of Egypt.

The big mover in the standings is Egypt's Ramy Ashour, the Hong Kong champion who has returned to the top five for the first time since April.

He won his first World Series event in 16 months after recovering from a hamstring injury and now sits fifth, with Egypt's Omar Mosaad and Nick Matthew of England third and fourth respectively.

In the women's rankings, Egypt's Hong Kong winner Nouran Gohar has overtaken compatriot Raneem El Welily to move up to a career high fourth place.

The 18-year-old won her first World Series crown just 17 days after winning the World Junior Championships for a second time.

Former world number one El Welily is now at her lowest ranking since May 2012 after dropping to fifth.

Egyptian world champion Nour El Sherbini remains at number one with England's Laura Massaro and Malaysia's Nicol David staying at second and third respectively.
