New Zealand's Joelle King became the first player to clinch two gold medals at a single World Squash Federation (WSF) World Doubles Championships since 2004 after she was part of the teams which won the mixed and women's crowns in Darwin.

King partnered Amanda Landers-Murphy to the women's title as they overcame home hopes Rachael Grinham and Donna Urquhart with a comfortable 11-7, 11-4 success.

Australia's Grinham, a two-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist, was the last competitor to earn two golds at a World Doubles Championships as she achieved the feat in India in 2004.

King and her New Zealand team-mate came into the match-up as slight underdogs but proved too strong, edging a tight first game before cruising to victory against the number two seeds.

The triumphs did not end there for King as she then teamed up with Paul Coll to earn a hard-fought 11-8, 11-8 win over Dipika Pallikal Karthik and Saurav Ghosal of India, seeded second for the tournament in Darwin.

King was again part of the lower-seeded team but was able to pick up a second title at the event thanks to a battling display along with her partner.

"We thought we were in with a chance," the 27-year-old, who won doubles gold at the New Delhi Commonwealth Games in 2010, said.

"I don't think we knew we could win two golds - but it's pretty good to take them back to New Zealand."

The only final on the last day of the competition New Zealand weren't involved in was the men's gold medal match, where Scotland's Alan Clyne and Greg Lobban topped the podium.

The second-seeded Scottish duo prevailed by ousting David Palmer and Zac Alexander of Australia, the fourth seeds, 11-8, 11-4.

The defeat marked more disappointment for the host nation as they failed to clinch any of the three available crowns.
