Damian Gianola has been appointed as the new managing director of the Olympia Bob Run St. Moritz - Celerina it has been announced.

The former skeleton athlete will replace Roberto Triulzi in the role at the Swiss bobsleigh track, with his predecessor leaving after 10-years in the post.

Triulzi reportedly agreed to leave after a difference of opinion with the track’s operational commission over the future management of the venue.

After his departure, Gianola took up the post on an interim basis, but has now been appointed full-time into the role.

"Damian Gianola knows as a former skeleton athlete and long-time collaborator in operations from various angles,” said Christian Meili, President of the Works Committee at the track.

“He enjoys with athletes, coaches and associations worldwide a high reputation.

"His election ensures continuity in the operation, but it also stands for new ideas around the web where to meet top athletes and international guests for over 100 years."

Gianola has been working at the track since 2009, most recently serving as the operations manager, where he was responsible for season planning and ongoing infrastructure projects.

The 37-year-old will now look to prepare the track for the forthcoming season, where it will continue to be used as part of the  International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF)  World Cup seasons.

The venue holds the record for staging the most IBSF World Championships, having hosted the event for the 22nd time in 2013.

The track is due to host the 2017 IBSF Para-Bobsleigh and Para-Skeleton World Championships.

"It is a big challenge to operate the Olympia Bob Run in the interest of all users and to perform economically successful," said Gianola.

"With my team, I'll do anything to offer athletes from around the world best training and competition conditions and to develop the attractive of the Olympia Bob Run offer for the guests of the region."
