India's Saina Nehwal came from behind to win the women's title at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Australia Super Series in Sydney today.

The 26-year-old London 2012 bronze medallist, the seventh seed, saw off China's unseeded Sun Yu at the State Sports Centre.

She conceded the first game but eventually battled back to triumph, 11-21, 21-14, 21-19.

Nehwal had knocked out much-fancied Thai Ratchanok Intanon in the quarter-finals, ending her bid for a fourth Super Series title this season.

Sun, for her part, had ousted her compatriot Li Xuerui, the London 2012 Olympic champion, in the last four.

However, she wasn't able to match her Indian opponent in the final two games today.

In the men's competition, Denmark's Hans-Kristian Vittinghus became the first man from his country to win a Super Series title for two years as he beat South Korea's Jeon Hyeok-jin in three games.

The unseeded final swung back and forth before the European took it 21-16, 19-21, 21-11.

It means Vittinghus has added individual success to team glory after triumphing at the BWF Thomas Cup with Denmark last month.

In doubles competition, the men's title went to Indonesia's Markus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, who defeated their compatriots Angga Pratama and Ricky Karanda Suwardi 21-14, 21-15.

The women's crown went to unseeded Chinese pair Bao Yixin and Chen Qingchen, who saw off the second seeded Indonesians Nitya Krishinda Maheswari and Greysia Polii 23-21, 21-17.

China's Lu Kai and Huang Yaqiong clinched the mixed title with victory over Chen and Zheng Siwei, 21-18, 21-14.
