Chen Long's conqueror Anthony Sinisuka Ginting was knocked out in the semi-finals of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Australia Super Series in Sydney.

The Indonesian caused a shock in the quarter-finals yesterday when he beat China's Chen, the number one seed and the world champion.

He was ousted today, however, as South Korea's Jeon Hyeok-jin prevailed 21-19, 16-21, 21-19 to reach the final.

The Korean was awarded a walkover in his last eight clash and perhaps benefitted from fresher legs as he came through a tight third game.

He will play Denmark's Hans-Kristian Vittinghus in the final after his 21-10, 21-13 win over India's Srikanth Kidambi.

Vittinghus won the BWF Thomas Cup title with Denmark last month and will be hoping to claim a first-ever Super Series title in individual competition.

All four semi-finalists were unseeded after the big names either fell or withdrew at the State Sports Centre.

In the women's competition, Olympic champion Li Xuerui was dumped out by compatriot Sun Yu.

Unseeded Sun proved too strong for the number three seed, triumphing 21-18, 21-19.

She will play India's Saina Nehwal in the final after the Olympic bronze medallist from London 2012 powered past another Chinese player, the fourth seeded Wang Yihan.

The number seven seed was in dominant form, winning 21-8, 21-12.

Both finals will be played tomorrow alongside the conclusions to the doubles tournaments.
