All 32 hours of live coverage from the upcoming International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athletics European Championships in Grosseto will be streamed live on the event’s dedicated website, it has been announced.

The IPC has confirmed it will broadcast the Championships, which begin on June 11 and conclude on June 16, on www.grosseto2016.com.

It will include all morning sessions, which began at 10am local time, and all evening sessions, commencing at 4pm local time, live from the Carlo Zecchini Olympic Stadium.

Commentary of the coverage of the IPC Athletics European Championships, a key event in the build-up to the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, will come from Will Downing and Rob Hayles, a three-time cycling Olympic medallist.

Over 600 athletes from 36 countries are due to compete at the event in the Italian city, the last major continental competition before this year’s Paralympics get underway on September 7.

Russia are due to send the largest team to Grosseto, featuring 100 competitors, and they will be hoping to top the medals table for the third consecutive European Championships.

Home favourite Martina Caironi, T42 100 metres gold medallist at London 2012, will be one of the leading names along with Britain’s David Weir, a six-time Paralympic champion.

World and Paralympic gold medallist Markus Rehm of Germany is also set to compete amid his continued attempts to be cleared to participate at the Olympic Games in Rio.

The German long jumping star is still harbouring hopes of becoming only the second athlete to use a blade at the Olympics.

A number of athletes who have already set world records this season are also expected to descend on Grosseto, including T42 long jumper Daniel Jorgensen of Denmark and T35 400m runner Oxana Corso of Italy.

Grosseto recently played host to an IPC Athletics Grand Prix event, which was held at the same venue in April.
