Poland's Monika Gibes and Piotr Cichocki maintained their lead in the SKUD18 class at the Para World Sailing Championships in Medemblik.

The duo were third in the opening race of the day on Dutch water and were fourth in the second - with the latter result discarded.

They have 10 points on top of the pile, with a group of six trams then bunched together with just three points separating second and seventh.

Australia's Daniel Fitzgibbon and Liesl Tesch, the reigning world champions, are second on 19 points after winning race one today and then finishing as runners-up in race two.

Italy's Marco Gualandris and Marta Zanetti, fifth overall, won race two.

In the 2.4m, Germany's Heiko Kroger is the new overall leader on 17 points after a second place in race one and then a 10th in race two.

He takes over from France's defending champion Damien Seguin, who managed a discarded eighth place and then seventh.

Seguin is now third, with Australia's Matt Bugg level with Kroger on 17 points in second.

Race one victory went to Britain's Helena Lucas as American Dee Smith came through for the win in race two.

In the sonar class, Britain's world champions John Robertson, Hannah Stodel and Steve Thomas have taken the lead back from Americans Alphonsus Doerr, Bradley Kendell and Hugh Freund.

The Brits, who won race two today after a fourth place finish, have 14 points ahead of the US team who are on 16.

The first race was won by Norway's Aleksander Wang-Hansen, Marie Solberg and Per Kristiansen.
