Finland’s Benedek Olah secured his first title on the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) World Tour by beating Egyptian rival Khalid Assar at the Nigerian Open in Lagos.

The 25-year-old won the Challenge event with a 4-1 win, coming from behind to triumph 7-11, 11-9, 12-10, 11-7, 11-5 against the eighth seed.

It wasn't only a personal landmark as he has also become the first Finn to claim a title at this level.

Olah was only ranked at 149 in the world in January but is recognised as the most improved player on the Tour and now sits at 74th.

After his success in Lagos, his stock will now only rise further.
