Fiji secured their second consecutive overall World Rugby Sevens Series title by qualifying for the quarter-finals in the concluding event of the season at Twickenham Stadium today.

The Pacific Islanders had a 14 point lead over South Africa heading into this weekend's London Sevens action, so knew progressing through from the group would be enough for glory.

Things didn't start well as they were beaten 31-10 by rampant hosts England in Group B, but they recovered to see off Wales 42-5 and Australia 26-0.

The English, 10-7 victors over Australia and 24-5 winners over Wales, topped the group but all the celebrations were Fijian.

In Group A, South Africa cruised through with victories over Samoa, Canada and the United States.

The US and Canada both saw off Samoa and then drew 12-12, with the Americans grabbing the second quarter-final spot on points difference.

France and Scotland both progressed from Group C as each side saw off Portugal and Kenya following a 14-14 draw between them to start.

The French boasted the better points difference to win the group.

In Group D, New Zealand topped the group on points difference from Argentina after both countries beat Russia and Brazil before drawing 14-14.

Another notable achievement came as Kenya's Collins Injera became the leading try scorer in the World Rugby Sevens Series, scoring his 231st to beat the previous record of 230 set by Argentina's Santiago Gomez Cora.

The record breaking score came in Kenya's 29-12 defeat to France.
