China won the Badminton World Federation Uber Cup for the third year in a row after downing South Korea 3-1 in the final on home soil in Kunshan today.

The dominant Chinese have now won nine out of the last 10 editions of the women's world team tournament, and were sent on their way today by London 2012 Olympic champion Li Xuerui.

She came from behind to beat Sung Ji-hyun 14-21, 21-13, 21-10 but the Koreans levelled the contest in the first doubles match.

Jung Kyung-eun and Shin Seung-chan battled back to defeat Tian Qing and Zhao Yunlei 16-21, 21-17, 25-23 to hand China their only defeat of the entire tournament.

This represented a huge upset as like Li, Tian and Zhao are the reigning Olympic champions, although their shock defeat was not to matter.

Normal service resumed as triple Asian Games gold medallist Wang Shixian eased past Kim Hyo-min 21-13, 21-12.

That left the hosts just one victory away and the doubles pairing of Tang Yuanting and Chen Qingchen made no mistake as they were too strong for Chang Ye-na and Lee So-hee, 21-14, 21-16.

With the tie decided, the final singles rubber between Wang Yihan and Lee Jang-mi was not contested.

The final in the men's Thomas Cup tournament will now take centre stage tomorrow, with Denmark meeting Indonesia at the Kunshan Sports Centre venue.
