Hosts Slovakia capped off a successful weekend at the European Canoe Slalom Championships in Liptovsky Mikulaš by winning the men’s C2 and men’s team C2 events on the final day of action.

Tomas Kucera and Jan Batik combined to good effect in the men’s C2, clocking an unrivalled time of 1 min 52.70sec to finish ahead of Slovenia’s Luka Bozic and Sao Taljat in 1:53.16 and Germany’s David Schroeder and Nico Bettge in 1:53.23.

In the men’s team C2, Slovakia finished first in 2:19.94 with Poland second in 2:20.93 and Germany third in 2:22.39.

The home nation had to settle for third place in the women’s K1 as Jana Dukatova rounded out the podium with a time of 1:51.13.

Germany’s Melanie Pfeifer claimed gold in 1:48.86, while Slovenia’s Ursa Kragelj was the runner-up in 1:49.44.

Slovakia also came third in the women’s team K1, crossing the line in 2:13.43 to finish 9.15 seconds behind winners Great Britain and 4.87 seconds shy of second-placed Germany.
