Australia’s Bill Chaffey showed once more why he is a multiple world champion by winning the men’s PT1 race at the International Triathlon Union (ITU) World Para-Triathlon Event in Yokohama.

Chaffey overcame a time penalty on his way to claiming victory in 58min 57sec, comfortably finishing ahead of Brazil’s Fernando Aranha - the runner-up in 1:05:10.

Great Britain’s Mark Conway came third in 1:06:19, 28 seconds clear of Japan’s Jumpei Kimura who narrowly missed out on a podium place to the disappointment of the home crowd.

"I am not sure what happened out there but I came in on the bike and I was told I had a penalty to serve," said Chaffey.

"It couldn’t have been drafting because there was no one in front of me.

"I don’t know yet what it was for but I served that on the run.

"It doesn’t matter, I got the win."
