The Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) joined the Uganda Police Forces in taking part in a World Day for Physical Activity celebration event in Naguru.

Delivered with this year’s theme of “Accumulate 30 minutes of Physical Activity Everyday”, the event was designed to promote exercise and fitness in the country.

Police officers taking part in the event at their organisation’s headquarters, which are based in Naguru in capital Kampala, took part in an aerobic session.

Officers were also able to take part in athletics, darts, archery, taekwondo, handball, football, volleyball, and boxing throughout the duration of the event.

They were joined by UOC President William Blick, Ugandan Equestrian Association President Kenneth Opedun and Kale Kayihura, Inspector General of the Uganda Police Force.

“We are very happy to host this year’s Kampala fitness week campaign,” said Dennis Ochan, a police officer at the event.

“UOC and Uganda police force have a good long standing relationship through a Memorandum of Understanding that was signed last year so we decided to join hands to celebrate the World Day of Physical Activity.”

The event continued the UOC’s strong relationship with the police, who last month vacated around two acres of land to enable the development of a high performance sports centre in Naguru.

It was claimed that the move would help police to streamline their operations, while offering the UOC the land they required to develop the facility.
