Egyptians Doaa Elghobashy and Lamies Nossier booked a Rio 2016 berth for their country as they triumphed in the final of the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) Women's Continental Cup in Nigeria.

The duo saw off Rwanda's Denyse Mutatsimpundu and Charlotte Nzatsinega 21-19, 21-19 in the deciding contest of a best of three series between the two countries.

Their victory at Lake Abuja in the Nigerian capital was the country's first ever international gold and means they are the second country confirmed for the women's Olympic tournament on the famous Copacabana Beach in August.

Brazil have two berths secure - one as a result of being host nation and the other thanks to Barbara Seixas and Agatha Bednarczuk’s gold medal triumph at the World Championships in The Netherlands last year.

Four more continental tournaments will be played where Olympic berths will be awarded to the champions, while 30 places can also be booked through International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) rankings.

A final Continental Cup qualification tournament will be held in Sochi between July 5 and 10, a last chance saloon for countries hoping to book their place.

That is the scenario for Rwanda and hosts Nigeria who gained their places in the Russian city after their performances in Abuja.

The Nigerians saw off Mauritius for bronze to keep their hopes alive.
