The Russian Boxing Team made it five wins out of five in the World Series of Boxing (WSB) after comfortably defeating Caciques Venezuela in Moscow this evening.

A 4-1 victory confirmed the Russians as Group C winners, while Rafako Hussars Poland’s 5-0 win over Argentina Condors in Kraków means Caciques Venezuela are still guaranteed to reach the play-offs.

The first bout of the night was a spectacular affair with Russia's Ovik Ogannisian and Venezuela’s Franklin Jose Gonzalez going toe-to-toe at flyweight.

The 19-year-old Venezuelan was too quick in the opening round but the more experienced Ogannisian stepped in and took the next four to win a match filled with attacking boxing.

Lightweight Adlan Abdurashidov, whose performances in 2015 were good enough to win him a place at this year's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, was a class above the willing Venezuelan Christian Palacio with speed of thought and footwork proving the difference between the two.

Russian National Championships bronze medallist Albert Karibian did his growing reputation no harm in the welterweight contest, knocking out Victor Pinango.

Karibian, who got better and better as the bout went on, put the Venezuelan on the canvas in the penultimate round.

In the fourth contest, 20-year-old Venezuelan Nalek Korbaj provided the shock of the night at light heavyweight.

He recovered from losing the first two rounds against Military World Games silver medallist Gamzat Gazaliev to win the next three.

There were no such fireworks from Caciques Venezuela’s Brazilian super heavyweight Henrique Dos Santos Nascimento in the final bout of the night against Andrey Afonin.

The big South American was unable to make his height advantage count and lost by a unanimous points decision.

The Russian Boxing Team have one more regular season match against Argentina Condors tomorrow evening.

Elsewhere today, Cuba Domadores defeated China Dragons 5-0 in Havana to finish the WSB regular season top of Group A.

The USA Knockouts gave themselves the best possible chance of qualifying for the play-offs from Group B after thrashing Morocco Atlas Lions by the same scoreline.

A British Lionhearts win against the Mexico Guerreros tomorrow will send the USA Knockouts through but a home triumph will see Guerreros leapfrog them back into the all-important second place.

There are two matches in Group D tomorrow as Puerto Rico Hurricanes meet Azerbaijan Baku Fires in Aguascalientes and Astana Arlans Kazakhstan face Uzbek Tigers in Oskemen.

In Group A, Turkiye Conquerors go up against Ukraine Otamans in Istanbul.
