Australia’s Mat Belcher and Will Ryan continued their domination of the men’s 470 competition at the Trofeo Princesa Sofía in Spain's Bay of Palma.

The duo, who were unable to defend their world title last month, had won both races contested on the first day of the regatta to top the standings.

A first and third place on the second day saw the duo retain their lead having moved onto three points, with the United States’ Stu Mcnay and Dave Hughes lying second on five.

"We focus on ourselves, we know what worked last time," said Olympic champion Belcher about their Rio 2016 preparations.

"There are so many things we want to do before the Games, we have a long list.

"But we are so enjoying our sailing, enjoying the moment and enjoying the build-up."

While Belcher and Ryan are able to prepare for Rio 2016, several sailors are seeking to claim the final Olympic berths available, with European qualification drawing to a close at the end of the regatta.

Fanny Baumann claimed the final spot on offer in the 49er FX class, due to Sweden being the only European country among the field who had yet to qualify.

His fellow Briton Giles Scott currently finds himself second on the finn class leaderboard having accrued 15 points, with Josh Junior of New Zealand out in front on nine.

France’s Billy Besson and Marie Riou remain in control of the Nacra 17 competition, as the world champions have moved onto a tally of 11 points after four wins from six races.

Germany’s Paul Kohlhoff and Carolina Werner lie in second place in the standings on 25 points, with Austria’s Thomas Zajac and Tanja Frank sitting a further point behind in third.

The women’s 470 class remains a tight affair with Britain’s Amy Seabright and Anna Carpenter currently tied for first place with Brazil’s Fernanda Oliveira and Ana Barbachan, with both crews on four points.
