The Scots, skipped by Sochi 2014 Olympic Games bronze medallist Eve Muirhead, have won all six matches since defeat to Sweden in their opener and continued their impressive run by earning a comfortable 9-3 victory over Denmark in the morning session.

They then went on to get the better of Finland in a thrilling encounter in their final game of the day as they edged the Scandinavian side 6-5.

Switzerland were also in good form on day four though they were made to fight hard for their 6-5 success against the Swedes in their opening match before they beat Japan 7-4.

Canada managed to bounce back from their first defeat of the tournament to 2015 bronze medallists Russia yesterday as they also surged towards the summit of the standings with two victories.

Led by skip Chelsea Carey, the home country were not at their best but still had too much strength for Germany, claiming a 7-5 triumph, before going on to defeat Italy 5-4.

The results leave Switzerland, Canada and Scotland all on a six win and one loss record in the round-robin phase.

The top four after the first stage of the competition will progress to the play-offs.

“We take each game one at a time and so far it's going good,” said Muirhead.

“And we have to keep that going tomorrow.

“We have Russia and Switzerland and they are teams that compete in the European Championships and all year on the tour.

“We know they are really good.”

Elsewhere on day four, Italy secured their first success of the tournament so far, beating Germany 6-2.

The United States, whose performances in Swift Current have been inconsistent to date, were another side to record two victories as they thrashed South Korea 10-3.

The American outfit then sprung a surprise as they overcame Russia, who remain in the chasing pack for a play-off place with Japan, 6-5.
