Lauren Steadman and Alison Patrick each qualified for this year's Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro thanks to their victories.

World champion Steadman triumphed in the women's PT4 event after finishing more than five minutes clear of her nearest rival.

The 23-year-old, a two-time Paralympian in swimming, completed the course in 1 hour 13min 00sec

Gwladys Lemoussu of France finished second in in 1:18:21 and Hungary's Tamiris Hintz third in 1:27.41.

Patrick triumphed in the PT5 race for visually impaired athletes alongside new guide Nicole Walters.

She finished in 1:07:31 to comfortably beat Spain's Susana Rodriguez, who clocked 1:10:45, and British team-mate Melissa Reid, who managed 1:10:59.

Both Steadman and Patrick have now fulfilled British Triathlon selection criteria, so will be selected for the sport's Paralympic debut at Rio 2016.

Ryan Taylor, a former England cerebral palsy footballer from Derby, claimed a third British victory in the men's PT2 event.

He clocked 1:13:33 to beat Mohamed Lahna of Morocco, who posted 1:15:52.

Michele Ferrarin of Italy finished third in 1:16:23.

Other winners today included Italy's Giovanni Achenza in the PT1 event.

He crossed the line in 1:08:00, beating Britain's Phil Hogg in 1:12.09 and Japan's Junpei Kimura in 1:17.28.

France's Yannick Bourseaux won the PT4 event in 1:04:03.

He defeated Britain's David Hill by just 58 seconds as Russia's Alexander Yalchik claimed the bronze medal in 1:05:46.
