The Netherlands Timothy Petersen and Tania Nortan Vanesca each claimed home victories as the World Karate Federation (WKF) Karate1-Premier League leg wrapped up with competition in the four heaviest kumite categories at the Topsportcentre in Rotterdam today. 

Petersen, a European champion in the under 75kg event more than a decade ago at the 2005 Championships in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, produced a superb performance to defeat Turkey's Aykut Usda in the under 84kg final.

Another Turk, Ugur Aktas, claimed another bronze medal, along with Argentina's Miguel Amargos.

A second Dutch triumph came in the women's heavyweight over 68kg division when Nortan Vanesca beat Iran's Hamideh Abbasali in the final.

Slovakia's Dominika Tatarova and Switzerland's Fanny Clavien won the two bronze medals.

There was an all-Turkish final in the over 84kg men's heavyweight division.

Ridvan Kaptan performed superbly to beat his Baku 2015 gold medal winning compatriot.

A third Turk, Gokhan Gunduz, claimed one of the two bronze medals.

The other went to Germany's Jonathan Horne.

France's Vassilika Panetsidou claimed victory in the women's under 68kg competition.

She beat Guzaliya Gafurova of Kazakhstan in the final.

Austria's Alisa Buchinger and Azerbaijan's European Games champion Iryna Zaretska each claimed the bronze medals.

The next stop on the Premier League circuit is due to be in Dubai on April 9 and 10.
