Noroozi, the London 2012 champion and 2014 world silver medallist, earned his under 66 kilograms Greco Roman ticket after beating Zheng Pan of China in the semi-final.

He then lost a pulsating final with Japan's Tomohiro Inoue, winning on superiority after the match had finished 3-3.

Ghasemi went one better in securing his spot at Rio 2016 with victory over another Chinese wrestler, Deng Zhiwei, in their under 125kg freestyle semi-final.

He then beat Kazakhstan's Daulet Shabanbay 11-0 in the final. 

It had been a relatively quiet two days so far in the Kazakhstan capital for Iranian fighters, primarily because they had already qualified in eight of the men's categories at last year's World Championships in Las Vegas.

They have now secured berths in 10 of the 12 male events, with just the under 59 and 130kg Greco Roman slots eluding them so far.

Iran will have further opportunities at World Qualification Tournaments in April and May.

Zhuldyz Eshimova claimed the gold medal in the women's under 48kg division after beating Thi Hang Vu of Vietnam, 3-2 in the final.

Ekaterina Larionova secured a place in the under 63kg women's event before losing the final to China's Wang Xiaoqian 6-2.

China's superb day continued with victory for Xiao Di in the under 98kg Greco Roman event.

He won his final by virtue of a walkover after fellow qualifier, India's Hardeep Hardeep, withdrew injured.
