The United States will contest both the men’s and women’s finals at the World Junior Curling Championships in Copenhagen after a double success in the semi-finals today.

In the men’s event, the Americans will play Scotland while the US will clash with neighbours Canada in the women’s showpiece.

The men’s final will be a repeat of today’s page play-off clash which saw the Scots win 7-5 to take a direct route through to the final.

There was also a play-off win for Switzerland who beat Canada 8-7 to set up a semi-final with the Americans, which went the way of the US 5-2.

In the women’s event, it was a similar scenario as the page play-off will be a rehearsal for tomorrow’s final.

The US beat Canada 8-7 to go straight into the gold medal game with their opponents then beating Hungary 9-4 in the semi-final to keep their hopes alive.

The Hungarians had earlier edged South Korea 12-11 in their play-off clash.

“My guys played unbelievable curling and the USA were awesome too,” said Scotland’s men’s skip Bruce Mouat.

“We were so pumped in the hotel room and we really wanted it.

“Three of us age out and we've really wanted this all season."

American women’s skip Cory Christensen added: “I'm still shaking and I'm so excited.

“It was just an awesome game."

The gold and bronze medal matches will be played at the Taarnby Curling Club in the Danish capital tomorrow.
