Canada, South Korea and United States all qualified for the play-offs of the women's competition at the World Junior Championships ahead of the final day of round-robin action in Copenhagen tomorrow.

Defending champions Canada overcame South Korea 9-4 in the battle of the only two unbeaten teams this morning, guaranteeing their progress.

A bad day for the Asian side continued when they were edged-out 7-6 in an extra end by United States in their second game of the day.

All three sides made it through, however, with just one other slot up for grabs.

An 11-4 evening win over Scotland means Switzerland, who lost 7-3 this morning to the US, still have a chance.

Hungary and Sweden are also in contention, with the Swedes winning 9-3 in a battle between the two this evening.

Russia are now out of contention after a 9-7 loss to Turkey.

Switzerland will face Hungary and Sweden will play Russia tomorrow in the encounters with qualification still at stake.

Scotland and the US continued their good form with just two rounds to go in the men's competition, albeit in contrasting fashion.

The Scots overpowered Turkey 10-2 in six ends while the US were taken to an extra end before edging out Sweden, 6-5.

Canada and Switzerland are leading the chasing pack.

Canada beat Turkey 10-2 in just six ends today while Switzerland had a 7-2 victory over winless South Korea.

Norway beat hosts Denmark 9-3 to remain in playoff contention.

The Championships were originally awarded to Erzurum in Turkey, but were reallocated to Denmark last month due to security fears.
