Jérémy Botton has been appointed as the new director general of the French Tennis Federation (FFT) following his predecessor's sacking.

Botton replaces Gilbert Ysern who was fired earlier this month following disputes within the organisation.

He was deputy chief executive of the FFT from 2009 and had been carrying out director general duties on a caretaker basis.

One of his main tasks is thought to be the redevelopment of Roland Garros, the home of the clay court Grand Slam the French Open in Paris.

The venue will be used for tennis if the French capital is successful in its bid for the 2024 Olympics.

Ysern is believed to have clashed with the FTT President President Jean Gachassin in recent months regarding the management of the organisation.

The departure of Arnaud Clement as the French Davis Cup captain in September is viewed as one of the key issues.

He was replaced by Yannick Noah, the last French player to win a Grand Slam singles title when he triumphed at the French Open in 1983.

Ysern told L'Équipe: “It's very brutal, I bother people but I have nothing to reproach myself.”

Elsewhere, Guy Forget has been appointed as the new French Open director ahead of this year's tournament in May and June.
