Poland’s Malgorzata Bialecka will aim to maintain her lead of the women’s RS:X World Windsurfing Championships in Eilat, when racing resumes tomorrow following a rest day.

Day three of the event was scheduled to be a reserve, in the event that racing may not have been able to take place on the opening two days.

Although only one race was possible on the first day of the regatta, the reserve day has not been required to stage competition.

Sailors have therefore been able to rest ahead of racing resuming, with the field having now been split into gold and silver fleets.

Bialecka will head the women’s standings having won three races in the yellow fleet on the opening two days of competition, to stand on a tally of seven points.

Her likeliest challenger will be Italy’s Flavia Tartaglini, second with 16 points.

A total of 29 women make up the gold fleet field.

In the men’s competition, Britain’s Nick Dempsey and Poland’s Pawel Tarnowski will share the lead, having accumulated 10 points so far.

The gold medal fleet of 41 sailors will vie for podium positions.
