The Junior Wolverines are due to play their hosts on August 27 in capital Kingston with a 9s competition also due to be contested.

Romeo Monteith, director of the Jamaican Rugby League Association, said: "Jamaica is happy to receive Canada on this historic youth tour.

"Both nations have shown a real commitment to developing international rugby league in the Americas and this venture is further indication of our resolve."

The Canadian delegation are scheduled to arrive in Jamaica on August 22 and depart on August 28.

"The Canada Rugby League Board Association (CRLA) are committed to their Youth Development Programme and the funding for this tour is the most the CRLA has ever spent on any playing group," said Canadian Rugby League President Paul O'Keefe.

"We are flying the best under-17s players from Western Canada over to Toronto to play against the best players in the East before selecting a squad to represent the Junior Wolverines.

"The 9s event will ensure as many young players as possible in Jamaica get to participate at a higher level of competition.

"Jamaica has a fantastic youth programme and their players deserve the opportunity to play against overseas competition in front of their home fans."
