The Austrian town, the host of the annual Nordic Combined Triple, will introduce a snow farming project to guarantee enough snow for the major International Ski Federation (FIS) event.

There will also be early-season training and racing at the venue and improvements to the finish area structures and cross-country tracks.

A meeting was held between the Austrian Ski Federation, the FIS and the local organising committee following the conclusion of this year's Triple, which ended on January 31.

The event, which has now run for three years, sees three World Cup events held in Seefeld on consecutive days.

Germany's Eric Frenzel has won the competition every year it has been held.

"We saw during this weekend’s Nordic Combined Triple how the Austrian Ski Federation and its Seefeld Local Organising Committee have built up a new event in just three years to be a tremendous success that attracts thousands of fans,” said FIS Secretary General Sarah Lewis.

“We are very excited about the plans over the next three years in the lead up to the World Championships to present a world class event.”

The Nordic Ski World Championships feature the disciplines of cross-country skiing and ski jumping, as well as the Nordic Combined which pairs both disciplines.

The competition schedule will be established over the coming months, with the action in 2019 pencilled in for between February 20 and March 3.

Organisers have experience of major events, having helped to stage the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games which were hosted by nearby Innsbruck with events in Seefeld.

They will present again to the FIS at their Congress in Cancun, Mexico, in June.

Lahti in Finland will host the 2017 Nordic Ski World Championships.
