With the contest locked level at 2-2, Espindola controlled the tempo against opponent Edgar Munoz and was given a 2-1 split decision victory by the judges to the delight of the home crowd.

Espindola was 13-years younger than his 32-year-old opponent but landed strong enough punches for success in the Argentine capital.

The evening started with the Condors' Christian Roda also winning by split decision against Venezuela's American Confederation Champion Yoel Finol at flyweight.

This was considered an upset, with Roda's confidence visibly growing after he knocked down the southpaw in round two.

Venezuelan lightweight Brian Ivan Nunez levelled proceedings with another split decision victory over Luis Angel Cabrera at lightweight.

Cabrera had beaten Nunez last season, but this time two judges scored the fight level while one recorded it in the favour of the visitors.

Bout three saw experienced WSB welterweights Alberto Ignacio Palmetta and Gabriel Maestre in action, with southpaw Palmetta starting well against Venezuela's Pan American Games champion.

Maestre came back strongly but the Argentinian reacted well to seal a vital win for the Condors.

He received the verdict from two of the judges while the third scored the bout level.

Caciques were back on level terms thanks to light heavyweight Albert Ramon Ramirez, who won five of his six WSB bouts last season.

He was never in trouble as he took a unanimous points win over Argentina’s Sergio Lebensztajn, to set the scene nicely for Espindola's heroics.

For the Condors, it was an opening win at the first attempt, while the Venezuelans couldn't build on their success over Rafako Hussars Poland in the all South American clash.
