Two leading officials from the United Arab Emirates National Olympic Committee (UAE NOC) have completed the opening phase of the Qatar Olympic Committee’s (QOC) sixth Advanced Diploma in Management of Olympic Sports Organisations.

Executive director Omar Abdul Rahman and Ahmed Al Tayeb, director of sports and technical affairs, both undertook the course which attracted a total of 36 individuals from various sports institutions. including the Gulf Cooperation Council.    

Held in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee and the Olympic Solidarity Commission, the course is made up of six units - organising the business of Olympic sports organisations, strategic management, human resources management, financial management, marketing management and organisation of mega sports events.

It aims to enhance the credentials of affiliates in managing Olympic organisations.

In this regard, Sheikha Al Zahid, executive director for general secretariat affairs, also joined the Master in Management of Sports Organisations Programme, which focuses on the relationship between NOCs and Government entities.

Furthermore, Wajdan Dahkooni, director of communication and marketing, signed up for the Master in Sports Law Programme.

Affiliating NOC cadres to these specialties is aimed at enabling them to gain practical knowledge in vital fields and empowering them to improve administrative performance.

This is said to be in keeping with the directives of UAE NOC President Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to continually polish the skills and capabilities of staff.

Rahman stressed the importance of participation in sport and scientific events, claiming they offer a great chance to share knowledge and experience from advanced sports practices worldwide.
