A Request for Proposal (RFP) has been launched following the publication of the tender notice at the end of last month.

The host broadcaster will be responsible for providing full coverage of the event, including the Opening and Closing Ceremonies which are scheduled for August 19 and August 30 respectively.

The deadline for the submission of applications is February 15, 2016.

Organisers opening the search for a host broadcaster comes after the launch of Taipei 2017’s sponsorship programme.

This is targeted at providing key resources for the 29th edition of the event, as well as driving public participation and economic growth throughout Chinese Taipei, while preparations continue.

Sponsors will be organised into four tiers, depending upon their entry amount.

Over 30 different sponsor rights or benefit packages are claimed to be available as part of the programme, with six main categories.

The categories include sponsors being able to hold naming and logo rights, promotional and marketing benefits, PR benefits, on-site promotion, event recap and other special benefits.

Taipei were awarded the Summer Universiade in November 2011 by the International University Sports Federation, beating Brazilian capital Brasília.

The event will feature 17 sports, including swimming, diving, basketball, fencing, football, judo, table tennis, tennis and volleyball, and will be held in venues across Taipei, Keelung, New Taipei, Taoyuan and Hsinchu.

South Korean city Gwangju hosted last year's edition in July, when Korean Broadcasting System was the host broadcaster.
