The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has launched separate fan and corporate websites in order to provide their audience with more specific content.

The fan site, accessible here, is the location for the latest news on the world’s top players and events, featuring player profiles, rankings, results and statistics.

BWF believe the dedicated website will be the portal of badminton for players, media and sponsors, in addition to the sport’s fans.

A corporate website, found here, is now due to service each of the BWF’s 183 member nations and five continental confederations, in addition to badminton administrators, business partners and technical officials.

“The websites have been tailored to communicate badminton developments in a more detailed manner to a growing and diverse fan-base,” said Thomas Lund, BWF secretary general.

“Badminton is growing rapidly and the demand for information about various aspects of the sport is quite high, these online portals will deliver a better information flow to our different audiences.

“Each site targets a specific sector within our vast badminton community.

“We are using better technology to ensure an enhanced online experience, the new sites are mobile responsive, so they will cater to young generations of fans who predominantly follow sport on mobile devices.”

The websites join the existing BWF World Superseries website which provides extensive coverage of their annual MetLife BWF World Superseries tournament circuit.

A World Championships website was also launched prior to the Total BWF World Championships in Jakarta last year.

Further launches are planned by the BWF during the year, including the addition of a Chinese fan site to cater to badminton’s global Chinese audience.

In addition, a collaboration between the Russian Badminton Federation and the Russian Academy of Science, Lomonosov Moscow State University, will result in the launch of a BWF Badminton Museum website.

The project will attempt to capture the history of badminton by profiling the iconic players of the sport and historical events, allowing fans to gain even more information.

The governing body’s grassroots development programme “Shuttle Time” is also due to receive its own dedicated website in 2016, providing material for schools, teachers, tutors, trainers and members implementing the scheme.
